Canon EOS 1000D

Canon EOS 1000D is a 10.1-megapixel digital single-lens reflex camera announced by Canon Inc. on 10 June 2008 and started shipping in mid August of 2008. It is known as the EOS Kiss F in Japan and the EOS Rebel XS in the United States and Canada. The 1000D is an entry-level DSLR that has been described as being a step below the 450D. It retails for $599 USD. The camera shares a few features with the 450D. It offers Live preview, DiG!C III, and SDHC media storage. However, it has seven focus points (opposed to nine) and does not have spot light metering. The 1000D is also the second Canon EOS model (after the 450D) to exclusively use SD and SDHC memory storage instead of CompactFlash.

..an awesome piece of kit...but beware if you are on Windows7 operating system...you'll have to go to Canon's website to get the latest downloads...in conjunction with the discs....bit fiddly....but worth it...

Great Camera

I have just upgraded to my first digital SLR and after a lot of hunting around, decided on this one. My initial impressions are very positive. I love the fact that I can change the lens and that there are many available to choose from. Another positive is, although I am only starting out with the camera, its ability to shoot in RAW - a feature I plan to fully explore as my confidence and skill grows.

It is very light-weight and easy to handle, and in fully programable mode is just as easy to use as my old point and shoot but with much better results.

It has a 10.1 megapixel sensor, can shoot up to 3 frames per second - which is great for action shots, and has seven points of focus which has been great to get focussed on to non-central subjects. I also love the fact that it has a self sensor cleaning feature every time the camera is switched off.

For the money it costs, this - in my opinion - is great camera.

Delighted with this camera. On automatic it is so easy to use and being digital I can review the results immediately, not like my last SLR a 35mm film camera. I have experimented with manual settings and am getting encouraging results as I learn. It's light too, certainly would recommend it as an entry level to the digital world of SLR cameras, after using a digital point and shoot.

I bought this camera to take more detailed photographs without a complicated camera and I was not disappointed. The results are first class and Iwould recommend this camera to anyone.

First class

This camera does what I want, when I want and with the lenses I already have from a previous non-digital Canon camera. The lens provided is ok, I do not want to do 'continuous shooting' so the lack of so called 'lens stabalisation' is not s problem.
