| Canon 50D 20/07/2010 Great Camera a good upgrade if you have a 30D Despite the negative reviews on the net over the high ISO performance this is a good camera better build than the 550D Do really need video on a camera? if the answer is no then this is good choice. Rumours abound that the 60D is due if it is this will become a good buy in its own right By Mr. T. Warne uk | ||||||
| Not A Bad Camera 17/05/2010 Well bought my camera a week ago but not from Amazon, found it cheaper at Jessops. over the last 20 years bought over 20 slrs,Mostly Canons,My first one an A1 and the latest one 50D But the last Camera i had was an Olympus E-3,Such a lovely Camera,Wish i kept it.Beautiful colors and crispy Pictures but a bit Noisy over 400 ASA So decided to buy the Perfect camera. After a lot of research decided to but the Nikon D-300s as i never had a Nikon camera before So what happend was at the last moment changed my mind as decided not to spend almost £1500 (+lens)and instead gone for Eos 50D which was almost half the price. Have I done right !!Gone to take some photos in a nice sunny day, transferd the pictures to the laptop and there I thought Wrong choice, wish i went for the Nikon D-300s or kept my Olympus E-3 No need really to explain why........,Canon 50D did not put a smile on my face....Its not a bad Camera dont get me wrong But not what I expected. | Mixed bag 03/05/2010 I am on my second 50D body, the first just would not focus correctly even using L lenses, on searching the net this seems more common than it should be. I sent it to Canon for checks and they said the 3D focus had to be adjusted. When it was returned the focus was spot on but the camera would not go into sleep mode. Amazon came to the rescue and arranged for a new replacement. The image quality is not far behind my 7D but it does not have the advanced focus and other bells and whistles of the 7D. For the price with the current cash back promotion it is a great camera at a competitive price. Buy from Amazon because if you do have problems then they will look after you! By K. Bates | ||||||
| Something to say about Amazon as well as the Canon 50D 03/05/2010 Firstly I would like to say that Amazon's customer service is unbeatable. At one time the company's policy was to restrict items in the "Electronic & Photo" section for delivery abroad, which was very frustrating. I live in Cyprus with a U.K. address and bank account, and I found it almost impossible to purchase items for delivery direct to me without incurring expensive postal costs and goodwill of friends. Not now, I have in the past month placed 3 orders and have had a delivery time of 5 days. (Note: It must be ordered through amazon.co.uk seller's site to obtain this service.) The Canon 50D is a very well built, high specification, semi-pro camera, and with 17 reviews at the moment and still counting, do you really want to read another one? If you don't want the video function, then you can not go wrong with this model. Also to get the ultimate results, then you will need to invest in the high specification lens to obtain the best from your images. I use the Sigma EX DG range of lens and achieve first class results, it will take clear sharp images, what it won't do is to take the photographs that are award winning shots, that I'm afraid is up to you. Another item which will help you is to fit a Canon BG-E2N Grip, this give better handling when a telephoto long lens is fitted also shooting in portrait. You get what you pay for these days and with Canon you always get excellent value for money. By Michael Watts | ||||||
| Flash or No Flash 18/04/2010 After selling my Canon 350D, it was time to buy the Canon 50D. I didn't buy it from Amazon but I just want to write a short review about the product. This camera is well built, strong and comfortable to use. It's easy to use controls and customizable settings, allow the user to have complete control of taking a photograph, whether its beginner or a professional. The lens I got was an 18-135mm and works very well. Moreover, the body of this Canon 50D slightly heavier that the 350D, making it somewhat tiring if your carrying it around all day. The picture quality is somewhat expectional and the LCD is crystal clear with bright colors. However, one thing I have noticed after using this camera there is a downside. It's the flash. Using the pop-up flash for more than say 60 images, I usually get a busy signal on the display for about 5 to 6 seconds before I can take another shot. I have been told this is a safety measure from Canon and by buying the Canon 580EX II or 430EX flash, will solve this issue. It is annoying when your doing a photoshoot and have to wait before taking a shot. I have the latest firmware too. Overall, this camera is very good, just wish they'd fix that flash issue.
